# Public Website

`public-website/` is the static Astro website for `https://faction-os.com`.

## Commands

Run commands through the root npm workspace after this directory replaces `public-website/`:

```bash
npm --workspace @factionos/public-website run dev
npm --workspace @factionos/public-website run typecheck
npm --workspace @factionos/public-website run build
npm --workspace @factionos/public-website run check:links
npm --workspace @factionos/public-website run quality
npm --workspace @factionos/public-website run test:e2e
```

`quality` runs typecheck, static build, and the link/privacy scanner. `test:e2e` builds and previews the static output, then runs Playwright route, reduced-motion, and launch-surface checks.

## Launch Contract

* Canonical origin: `https://faction-os.com`
* Trailing slash policy: `never`
* Route contract: 31 HTML routes covered by `tests/e2e/site-readiness.spec.ts`
* Static endpoints: `/favicon.svg`, `/robots.txt`, `/site.webmanifest`, `/press/README.md`, `/rss.xml`, `/sitemap-index.xml`, `/sitemap-0.xml`, `/llms.txt`, `/llms-full.txt`
* Public site posture: no hosted forms, analytics, visitor tracking, runtime fetch, WebSocket, EventSource, beacon, storage writes, cookie writes, SPA router, or route prefetcher
* Agent-readiness policy recorded on 2026-07-05: AI crawling, search, answer-engine input/citation, and model training are allowed; DNS-AID, Web Bot Auth, API/MCP, and payment discovery are skipped because this static public site exposes no backing capability

The public `/press/README.md` route is generated by `src/pages/press/README.md.ts`.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://faction-os.gitbook.io/faction-os-docs/public-website/readme_public-website.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
